Geico Happier with Mutombo
NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo joins in the fun of American commercialism. In this commercial for insurance company Geico, Mutombo does the thing that he made into an art form during his NBA career “block.” Mutombo blocks people’s shots in various real life situations. For example, he blocks a business executive’s shot away from the trash can, a college coeds laundry is on the floor instead of the laundry basket, a 10-year old kids’ cereal is swatted all over the grocery store, all because Mutombo is so enthusiastic doing what he loves, “blocking.” All the while repeating some of his more memorable catch phrases such as “Not in my house” in…
Honest iPad Ad
Finally, we have an honest iPad advertisement presented to you by Conan. This shows what people really do or at least want to do while on their iPads. Obviously it’s not a real ad but it’s put together in such a creative way that you could see how it could be perceived as an ad. This post was made possible by Ads of the World.
The 10-year-old takeover
It’s been said that advertising is a young man’s game but just how young is too young? Tell me what you think of this video in the comments below. Read more about this story on The Big Orange Slide.
Ass Models Have Arrived
Three years ago I wrote about hand models in a post titled: “Where have all the Ass Models Gone.” Well, ass models have finally arrived. Read more about it on Adland.
Crown Royal “Lion”
A lion’s roar sounds scarier when drinking, no? Let me know in the comments below? Client: Crown Royal Agency: Grey, New York
I Would Do Anything for Love – M&Ms
I wanted to share a cute commercial that grabbed my attention while I was at the movie theaters earlier this evening. It was more entertaining than the movie itself. A love ballad brought to you by the lovable M&M candies. While being tortured, a.k.a eaten, baked and sometimes licked by a beautiful group of girls. Oh, how I wish I was in their place.
Anne Almasy Ad Rejected Initially
I saw this ad for Anne Almasy, a wedding photographer on Adfreak and I had to give my two-cents. The whole story was that Weddings Unveiled, a wedding magazine initially rejected (hence this post’s title) the ad because it featured a photo of two women about to kiss. The magazine then promptly received a strongly worded open letter pretty much calling the editors of the magazine spineless for following beliefs not even their own. The magazine backtracked and allowed Ms. Almasy to use the original photo. Now, here is my issue with this whole story, couldn’t this just have been a play by the magazine to garner more attention positive…
And Now, Your Weekly Video Miscellany
Since I refuse to play any meme videos, you’ll notice that this week’s collection doesn’t have gazillions of views. I’m a snob like that. Rather, this week’s content is a love-fact, avalanche back-flipping, condom-delivering foray into cool and smart and funny things. You’ll be entertained, assuming your brain works exactly like mine does. As an extreme narcissist, I can only assume it does. Here you go, like it or not.
Zoosk Puts Go Daddy to Shame With Even Gnarlier Kissing Ad That frog is not much of a prince
Jesse Heiman kissing God’s hands—aka, Bar Refaeli’s lips—for Go Daddy on the Super Bowl was one thing. Nasty, yes, but not bestial. For the latter, we turn to Zoosk, the dating site previously best known for its lecherous heart-puppet slobbering on a laptop. This new spot takes shock-kissing to a whole new level, as the girl (after a long pause to get up her courage) sloppily makes out with a frog, who unfortunately never turns into a prince. (The thing looks real, too.) It’s certainly appalling, but I’d take issue with the direction given to the actress. Wouldn’t it be better if she were loving every second of kissing Swamp Thing rather than…
Cossette Toronto Bungles Bugles Games
Client: Bugles Agency: Cossette Toronto However, the two whitebread kids in the new Bugles commercials probably don’t have quality social lives, so to pass the time, they play five dull games with their snacks. Why five? Your guess is as good as mine. Read more about this on: http://www.mediabistro.com/agencyspy/cossette-toronto-bungles-bugles-games_b44347
