Ramadan is Upon Us
About a week before the Start of Ramadan, I received this cool looking postcard in the mail from Life, a global humanitarian relief and development organization, headquartered in Southfield, Michigan. I wanted to post this quickly since it’s the first day of blessed month. I must say, I’m wondering how I was selected to receive this postcard, I’ve never interacted with this particular nonprofit. Can someone out there in the inter webs let me know what kind of marketing list my name is on that I was able to receive the card? Let me know down in the comments. I’m appreciative of the card I would just like to know…
An Alexa for the Middle East?
I’m not sure that this is an actual Alexa commercial but it demonstrates the kind of questions that would be asked of Amazon’s Alexa in the Middle East. I’ve found a couple of these types of videos online lately. Also, I recently discovered that Amazon is launching Alexa in Saudi Arabia which I think is very cool.
YouTube Creators and Sponsorships
I have to be honest and share with the two readers of this blog that I’ve recently put in a lot of time into creating YouTube videos and trying to build a following. A following is the audience in marketing speak. Anyway, creating these videos has also led me to watch more of my favorite content creators on YouTube. Their topics range from Mac automation like my channel all the way through topics such as the Linux operating system. I was reading the Wall Street Journal a few days ago and discovered that one of my favorite YouTuber’s (MKBHD) ads appears on the Journal’s website. Here is a the banner…
Macintosh: The Computer for the Rest of Us
Here is another advertising treasure I recently discovered, a 1984 Macintosh commercial that featured former Microsoft CEO, Bill Gates. It’s actually not a commercial but a promotional video that featured the billionaire. I believe it is the Apple II being featured, its biggest selling points according to the promo video? The GUI interface and the pointer mouse. Can you believe how time just flies? Now we have 10 times that power in Android and iOS phones. It can be argued that Jobs and Gates worked together popularizing the Mac, specifically thanks to Apple’s exclusive deal with Microsoft for Excel early on, but Gates and Jobs hardly “worked together, creating the…
Should Inside That Ad Start a YouTube Channel?
I’ve been thinking about how I could possibly start an Inside That Ad (ITA) YouTube channel. Do you guys think that’s even possible?
BocciaMan Store Logo
Hello World, The first blog post of 2019 will be for showing off the new logo I had designed for the new custom t-shirt design business I started in early December of 2018. It’s still not really off the ground yet but I’m really trying. The business (BocciaMan’s Store) has already made more then this blog ever did so I see it as a good thing. I worked with a designer and this is the final concept that I liked and approved. The first design I was presented with showed the figure in the image above wearing a cap and had multiple colors. In the second and final draft, the…
Inside That Ad is Back on Wednesday’s in 2019
ITA will be back to posting regularly in 2019. This time though I’m going to “try” to stick to a strict weekly schedule. It will most likely be Wednesday at 8 PM PST. Look for the first official post of 2019 on Wednesday, January 8th. I stopped posting for a few reasons: The blog didn’t seem like it was getting traffic or had an audience at all. It still may not have an audience. I lost the “.COM” domain name for this site. I am not able to post daily which is why I am trying out a weekly schedule. This blog was born in 2009, so 10 years ago…
Nike’s New Nothing Beats a Londoner
Some Nike commercials are as memorable for their camerawork, and the way they’re shot, as for their celebrity stars or message of inspiration. Guy Ritchie’s stunning 2008 spot “Take It to the Next Level” immediately comes to mind. A decade later, the brand’s newest effort from Wieden + Kennedy London, titled “Nothing Beats a Londoner,” is likewise technically breathtaking, in part thanks to the efforts of Riff Raff directors Megaforce. ITA Trailer – Black Panther
This week’s movie that I saw was black Panther and it was amazing. Well worth the price of admission. I really liked the movie because it didn’t follow the same theme that most Marvel movies seem to follow these days which is everything gets destroyed. Furthermore, the movie had a real positive message of always following your dreams and goals and never giving up on them, even if you face hardships. Black Panther functions like the best superhero comics, drawing on the history and context of what’s come before while filling in backstory as needed. It totally works as a standalone adventure. Enjoy the movie trailer below!
Stay in the Shadows
It’s not always good to have other people’s attention. Especially when those people are car thieves. This campaign demonstrates that, thanks to Sherlock’s Antitheft Marking, the attention of thieves is diverted elsewhere. The thieves are personified by beams of light that automatically point to vehicles unmarked by Sherlock. They’re inspecting them and getting ready to steal them. Sometimes, it’s good to stay in the shadows. Other Versions are below. This is originally from Ads of the World
